• 500g Strong Bread Flour
  • 330g Water
  • 2tbs Oil
  • 1tsp Sugar
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1tsp Fast-Action Yeast
  1. Place all ingredients in a large bowl and bring together by hand.
  2. Knead for about 10 minutes and leave to rise in an oiled bowl for 45-60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  3. Knock back and knead for a few moments then shape into a loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet and leave once again until doubled in size.
  4. Place in a pre-heated oven (200C Fan) and bake for 38 minutes. Once baked, remove from the oven (with a dry tea-towel perhaps) and tap the loaf on the base, it should sound hollow, then place on a rack to cool.
  5. In the event it doesn't sound hollow, pop back into the oven for 5 minutes and re-check.
  6. NOTE:
  7. The above can also be place in a bread-maker set to 'dough'. A bit cheaty but very convenient and it does not change the taste or texture!
